RECESS

PATTERN DESIGN

Recess is known best for design and quality. With each paddle, we go through multiple pattern and color options before finalizing which design our customer will gravitate towards most.

REEBOK X RECESS

This collaboration included many rounds of logo lockups, tongue copy and color placement, all to create the ideal court shoe.

ART DIRECTION

There’s so much beauty that comes from finding the perfect team and bringing them together to fulfill the brand’s vision. From the photographer to the stylist, from the months of preparation to the energy day of, there’s so much that goes into each photo.

Recess x The Defined Dish

A collaboration we knew was meant to be the first time we saw Alex Snodgrass post about pickleball. It started with design meetings about each paddle and ended with a photoshoot in her beautiful Dallas, Texas home. The collaboration consists of 4 paddles: the Olive, Salsa, Dallas and Ginger.

MERCHANDISE

Sourcing great vendors is half the job when it comes to merch. If the quality isn’t there, then the design doesn’t matter.

RECESS X GRAY MALIN

The first collaboration I pitched to Recess was Gray Malin. I had never seen photographs on a paddle, much less beautiful, scenic ones like Gray’s. I created mock-ups, sent them to our sales team and crossed my fingers. Flash forward to 2 years later and we’ve created 10 limited-edition paddle designs together!

Custom Paddle Clients

Recess specialized in creating custom paddles by incorporating client branding into unique designs. I would receive the client's logo for the front of the paddle and then develop a complementary back design based on their aesthetic. This process involved editing logo files, creating multiple mockups to offer a strong selection, and collaborating with the printer for post-production color correction to ensure high-quality results.
